The business is led by Alex Thornton, an experienced leadership facilitator, coach and strategic leadership partner.
Before founding Amethyst Consulting, Alex led Human Alchemy, a leadership and organisational development consultancy within a wider £40m organisation. During that time, she strengthened the business by applying many of the same principles that now sit at the heart of Amethyst Consulting’s work: creating clarity, stabilising the team through pressure, strengthening accountability, improving the offers, building trusted client relationships and aligning day-to-day activity with the bigger strategic objective.
The result was a consultancy that consistently delivered strong commercial performance, including sustained profit margins of 31–33% and recognition as Best Leadership Development Consultancy 2025 at the Midlands Enterprise Awards.

Her client experience includes organisations such as the NHS, MOD, Lincolnshire Co-op and Activate Learning alongside a wide range of growing businesses, charities and leadership teams.
Her work has included leadership development, executive coaching, high-performance team-working, culture change, organisational transformation, strategic alignment and team facilitation.
She has supported leaders navigating complex change, ambitious growth, cultural challenges, team tension, shifting priorities and significant organisational pressure.
The work is always practical - and it is always human.
